Objects become a mechanism
Connect the details and check how the design works. The sandbox does not limit the work to a ready list of tasks.
The scene instead of the competition
You can put characters and objects in the right positions. This is suitable for experiments and your own scenes without necessarily winning.
The regime defines the rules
Prop Gunt uses the conversion into hidden objects, and TTT uses investigation and hidden roles. The transition between regimes is a significant change in the game itself.
Other games may require supplements
The official page warns that individual servers and modes need a Counter-Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2 or their materials. The requirements of the selected set are more important than having one basic sandbox.
